On Wednesday, April 28, the Greensboro Grasshoppers started a 4 game series against the Rome Braves. I was hopeful about this series, as the Braves are sitting in the cellar of the Southern Division of the SAL. They didn’t disappoint, delivering a 5-0 shutout, in a quick hour and fifty-four minutes. It’s probably the quickest baseball game I’ve ever been to. All five of the Hoppers runs came in the fifth inning.
The Hoppers continued their love of taunting the opposing players by putting up silly pictures on the scoreboard. For the series against Rome, they liked to put a picture of Seinfield’s Cosmo Kramer whenever batter Matt Kramer stepped into the box.
Sausage Race (between 1st and 2nd): won by Country Sausage
Sumo (in middle of 2nd): won by Blue Sumo
With the game being such a quick blowout, some of the most fun action was during the singing of YMCA, where Guilford led the dancing.
Once again, I used iScore to score the game. Here’s how I had it (click each picture of the scoresheet to embiggen):
All of my pictures from the game are on Facebook. There are over 50 pictures out there, most of them of the pitchers. Check ’em out.
